Frequently asked questions

Where is my board stored?

It is saved in this browser and synced to your account on the CRMTECH server, so it is restored on any device you sign in from, with earlier versions kept. Export and Import JSON are still available to share a board with someone else.

What is a WIP limit and why does it matter?

A work-in-progress limit caps how many cards a column may hold. When the limit is reached the column turns red, which is a prompt to finish something before starting something new. Limiting WIP is the single most effective change most teams make to reduce cycle time.

Can I change the columns?

Yes. Rename any column heading in place, adjust its WIP limit, and add or remove columns. The board adapts to your process rather than forcing a fixed one.

Does it track how long a card has been sitting?

Yes. Each card shows its age in the current column, and cards that have not moved for more than seven days are flagged. Overdue cards are highlighted separately.

How do I share the board with someone?

Export it as JSON and send the file; they import it on their machine. For a read-only snapshot, use Print, which lays the board out cleanly on paper or as a PDF.

Is Kanban Task Board free?

Yes. Kanban Task Board is free for everyone and needs no sign-up to use. An account is only needed to export, download or print, because every export is recorded.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Kanban Task Board works inside your web browser, so the files you open are processed on your own device. If you sign in, the work you save (such as drafts and registers) is also kept in your account so it follows you to other devices.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install.
